CHALT newsletters also urged people to get vaccinated and we sponsored a program with an infectious disease expert about how to stay safe. We also urged people to support the effort to save the Chelsea Theater. Embracing those causes does not mean that our organization was involved in carrying them out!
We are all about community causes. I don’t see how our newsletter encouraging a community discussion about starting a paper as meaning CHALT intended to start a paper. In fact, CHALT meetings held zero discussions about organizing and funding a newspaper because those activities were undertaken independently by another group.
Why is your paper so intent on attacking CHALT?

Julia,

The May 2018 CHALT newsletter states that CHALT wants to start the newspaper and to contact CHALT for more information. (See below)
We’ll update the article to state CHALT members, but to say anything else seems disingenuous, if not inaccurate.

A local newspaper would have drawn attention to the important role commissioners play and increased interest and potentially turnout. CHALT is interested in starting a local paper. If you want to help, contact us at info@chalt.org.
