HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. Feb. 24 2021 ― Orange County Public Health announced Feb. 24 that pre-K through grade 12 and childcare workers are eligible to receive a COVID vaccine. Other frontline essential workers listed in Group 3 will become eligible March 10. Caveat: Trials for children age 12 and up have just been completed by Pfizer and Moderna just started trials. Currently there are no trials begun for 12 and under.  Therefore there are no vaccinations available for children under 16 years of age.

Duke Health and UNC Health continue of offer the COVID-19 vaccine to people age 65 and older in accordance with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services guidelines. You do not need to be a patient to receive the vaccine. Orange County is also offering vaccines. An appointment is needed to get a vaccination at all these places.

Orange County Health Department:  According to the Orange County Covid vaccine website, those who are age 65 or older are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Register here. http://www.orangecountync.gov/2617/Vaccine

CVS is offering the vaccine in select stores.

A Feb 8 Chapelboro article describes the variable amount of vaccine received by Orange County Public Health.  Keep in mind that the vaccines don’t arrive at a central location but are shipped to County Health departments, hospitals, and more recently to pharmacies. There does not appear to be a central tracking system in place for distributing the vaccine.
